An Italian court sentenced eleven former top executives of a chemical company to a total term of 141 years imprisonment for intentional water poisoning and deliberate environmental disaster, among others. This landmark case concerns water pollution through (PFAS), a group of synthetic organofluorine chemical compounds used in various industrial applications because of their extreme resistance to heat, fats and water.
