The Israel Water Engeeniring Magazine
Tzvi levinson & Gil Dror, Advocates November 2012

Recently, a new environmental law was published of great importance to the public that also imposes great responsibility on industry. The law in question is the Environmental Protection Law (Releases and Transfers to the Environment – Reporting and Registering Obligations), 2012. This law was enacted as a part of Israel's commitments as a new member of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and is a part of a long chain of other obligations. The article reviews the history of legislation and  elaborates the  implications of the law on the water and waste water sector. Reporting obligations required in this law do not apply only in cases of exceedances  from  permits or licenses, but also in cases where the releases or the  transfers does not constitute an infringement.
